I know we’ve been MIA for a while but that’s unfortunately what finals week entails.
So now its winter break and I’m on my way home currently typing to you form Frankfurt waiting for my plane to board.
This is where I’d like to introduce our travel page; we will be taking several pictures of the different places we travel to and since this is the first time I’m heading home since we started this blog I decided to document it.
|Sounds cliche but this very site always brings a smile to my face.
India is a lot of things to different people but to us, the writers of this blog, it is home.
We come from the metropolitan city of Mumbai (also known as Bombay) where you see that western fashion has mixed right in with our traditions. The streets are always crowded, busy and colourful; you usually see a good mix of fashions wherever you look.
As of recently traditional Indian designs have become popular in the united states; a good example of this is the type of merchandise they sell at Urban Outfitters- almost everything thing you look at has been made in India. The sequined shoulder bag and the certain types of chaplas (sandals) have also been in demand. The big traditional jewelry has been trending for a while now.
Personally I’ve always thought our culture is a good source of inspiration. It influences my taste in fashion and a lot of my art. I tend to gravitate towards Indian accessories which include stunning purses with intricate beading and long chandelier earrings.
So, many pictures and posts soon to come!
With love from Mumbai,
