Inspite of living in a city like New York, at times we find that we simply run out of places to shop. Surprised? Well so are we. Hours of walking in the bitter cold with a touch of rain and an aim to shop, not a thing was bought. Aren’t those the just the most pathetic words ever?
You would think in a city with over a hundred retail stores there would be something worth spending money on but if that was the case, this post wouldn’t exist. Do you sense the disappointment? We can almost feel it resonating from us to you. Two girls with an expensive taste, an aspirational lifestyle and not much to support it get sick and tired of making trips to the same high streets and then seeing every other person wear the same clothes you were once ecstatic to strut about.
With a desperate need for change, we started out in the afternoon deciding that we’d try the tiny east village boutiques and work our way up the west village were all the fabulous designer names reside with a hope to find a few precious pieces. As shoppers, what we and probably everyone out there expects is to spend on something special, by special we mean what we love. The idea of settling cause well it looks just nice, doesn’t quite appeal to us. Yes, we make it sound like a disaster, but the day was such and we need to vent.
One end of Manhattan to another with no shopping bags makes us wonder- is there no place for the mediocre shopper? Between the fast fashion and the designer, aside from the vintage stores and hand me downs? Boutique after boutique turned our hopeful shopping trip into an irritable evening. With every screech of the hanger our hopes shattered. Over dramatic? Certainly.
But we’ve all been there, haven’t we?
